Originally
from New York, Brenna came to Chicago almost 5 years ago. So far
her lifes work has included painting, photography, set design
for still photography, studying nutrition and herbalism, as well
as practicing and teaching yoga. In 1998 (after years of thinking
about it) she started practicing yoga, and joined Moksha Yoga
Center just 3 months after it had opened. Moksha became her main
source of yoga instruction and since 1999 has been able to practice
with Rod Stryker, Ana Forrest, Shiva Rea, Tim Miller, Gary Kraftsow,
and Andrey Lappa. After 4 years of refining her personal practice,
Brenna became a certified yoga instructor through Rod Stryker's
Pure Yoga Teacher Training Program. According to Brenna, ?I am
dedicated to upholding all teachings from the history of yoga.?
Brenna?s philosophy is that each of us has the capacity and right
to live a life brimming with joy and purpose and the fastest way
to this is through yoga. Brenna?s classes offer asana practice
that honors a number of styles including Vinyasa flow, Power,
and a soft fluid approach that encourages an "inner listening".
According to Brenna, "I want to help transform students"
bodies to be stronger and more flexible. I also want to aid in
the removal of mental and emotional obstructions in order to create
a balanced and healthy energy." Brenna's classes also include
meditation that encourages students to seek mental clarity and
peaceful dispositions. "I want to help people find the joyous
freedom that I have found through the practice of yoga." Says
Brenna.
